The Constitution gives Congress the power to finance the government and a number of other powers as well. The many powers of Congress include: (1) legislative powers, with which Congress makes law, and (2) nonlegislative powers, with which Congress performs various functions closely related to its role as the lawmaking branch of the Federal Government.
