While the Framers of the Constitution may never have imagined all the types of cases the courts would hear, they did realize that government would be impossible to manage without a judiciaryso they added Article III to the Constitution. It established the Supreme Court and other, lower federal courts. It is the prime function of the legislative branch to make the law and the judicial branchthe system of federal courts and federal judgesto interpret and apply the law.
