To help students apply the math in this chapter to real-life applications, we've included four Internet activities. In the first project, students will use formulas for physical fitness and health and design their own exercise plan. For the second activity, they will write equations for the relationships among the ingredients in Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate" chocolate chip cookie recipe. In the third one, students will solve equations for the cost of visiting the San Francisco Zoo. The last activity has students use equations and inequalities to find the amount of sales of gift items Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream needs to make a profit.

These teaching notes can be printed for quick referencing.
