Web Elements is simply the best periodic table on the Web. Author Mark Winter of the University of Sheffield in England has assembled thousands of graphics showing element structures and periodic properties. Besides complete tables of physical and chemical data, there are historical and biographical information about each element and even some great cartoons. Steve Marsden's Chemistry Home Page is a useful reference for both high school chemistry students and teachers. It contains lecture notes, handouts and tutorials on all aspects of high school and Advanced Placement chemistry. Click on elements, for example, and many links to high quality periodic tables appear. Even more useful is Marsden's exhaustive WWW links to even more chemistry sites. The ChemTeam provides study resources for all standard topics in high school chemistry and Advanced Placement chemistry. In addition, this site contains all the questions and answers to past Advanced Placement and Chemistry Olympiad exams. Chemistry Links from Queen's University is a collection of links of interest to chemistry teachers and their students. Included are links to sites that contain chemistry lessons, labs, demonstrations, teacher resources, software, references and much more. How Stuff Works is a massive and still growing resource of well written and well-documented articles about science and technology. Written by an expert in the field, each article presents an in-depth look at the inner workings of the many aspects of our technological society. Included are many articles specific to chemistry. How Things Work is a large collection of questions and answers pertaining to all areas of science written by Louis A. Bloomfield of the University of Virginia. Arranged according to topic, the site covers many questions related to chemistry. You can contribute by asking Dr. Bloomfield a question. |
