
Joan Aiken

Joan Aiken, the daughter of the American poet Conrad Aiken, always planned to be a writer. She has written several novels, as well as stories and plays for young people. Her fans of all ages enjoy reading her tales, which usually turn out not quite as expected. Many of her stories deal with fantastic or mysterious events. In 1972, Aiken was honored by the Mystery Writers of America for Night Fall. Among Aiken's most well-known books are the novels The Wolves of Willoughby, Chase, and Midnight is a Place.
