Brent Ashabranner
(b. 1921)

Brent Ashabranner was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, although he has resided in Ethiopia, Libya, Nigeria, India, the Philippines, and Indonesia while working for the Peace Corps and other programs that aid developing countries. He writes for young people because "the things I felt I was learning about understanding other cultures … seemed worth sharing with young people." Ashbranner has used his life experiences to become a prolific nonfiction writer.
