
Rosemary Carr Benét
(1898–1962)
Probably best known as Mrs. Stephen Vincent Benét, Rosemary Carr Benét was an influential author in her own right. Stephen Vincent Benét and Rosemary Carr met in Paris while Stephen was studying at the Sorbonne in 1920. They wed and returned to America in 1923. Book of Americans, written with her husband, was published in1933.
Rosemary wrote for magazines and coauthored a famous poem about the inventors of the first airplane, "Wilbur Wright and Orville Wright." She also wrote a poem about the American legend "Johnny Appleseed."
