
Robert P. Tristram Coffin
(1892–1955)
Robert P. Tristram Coffin was born in Brunswick, Maine, where he grew up on a farm and received his early education in a rural schoolhouse. He attended Bowdoin College in Maine, Princeton University in New Jersey, and Oxford University in England. His poems often portray life on a farm or along the Maine seacoast. Coffin illustrated many of his own books, including Strange Holiness, for which he won a Pulitzer Prize in 1936.
