Richard Connell
(1893–1949)
Richard Connell was born in Dutchess County, New York. His love of writing began early. At ten, he was covering basketball games for his father's newspaper and at 16 he was editing the paper. After serving in World War I, Connell lived in various cities in Europe and the United States, finally settling in Beverly Hills, California. The author of more than 100 short stories, Connell drew upon his firsthand knowledge of life-and-death conflict when he wrote his gripping masterpiece,"The Most Dangerous Game."
