Author Biographies

Olivia E. Coolidge
(b. 1908)

Olivia Coolidge grew up and was educated in London, England, although she is a naturalized United States citizen. She spent several years as a teacher of English, Latin, and Greek in both the United States and in Europe. She has written many stories, myths, and biographical sketches for young people. Some of her works include Lives of Famous Romans (1965), The Presidency of Abraham Lincoln (1976), and Men of Athens (1962), for which she won the Newbery Honor award in 1963.
