Jack Finney
(1911–1995)

Jack Finney, also known as Walter Braden Finney, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is best known for his novel The Body Snatchers (1955), a story about aliens who come to Earth and inhabit human bodies. This novel was adapted for the screen as Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Escape from the harsh present to a peaceful past is a common idea in Finney's writing. It appears in his novel Time and Again (1970) and runs through I Love Galesburg in the Springtime (1963), a collection of short stories. Finney had a particularly distinguished career in the science fiction and thriller genres. He was awarded the World Fantasy life achievement award in 1987.
