Author Biographies

Phillip Hoose
(b. 1947)

Born in South Bend, Indiana, and raised in the towns of South Bend, Angola, and Speedway, Indiana, Phillip Hoose now lives with his family in Portland, Maine. Hoose wrote the book It's Our World, Too (1993). The book is about young people ages eight to seventeen who have worked to improve their world. Hoose wrote the book as a guide for young people who want to make a difference. He is also the author of a book called We Were There, Too! Young People in U.S. History (2001), which provides a unique look at American history through the eyes of the youths who lived through it. The book begins with the story of a young man who sailed with Christopher Columbus in 1492 and works its way through history to the twentieth century.
