Evelyn Tooley Hunt
(1904–1997)

Evelyn Tooley Hunt was born in Hamburg, New York. In 1926, she graduated from William Smith College in Geneva, New York, where she had been an editor of the literary magazine. She received the Sidney Lanier Memorial Award for her first collection of poems, Look Again, Adam, published in 1961. Hunt's interest in different cultures is demonstrated in her writing. She is best known for her variations of haiku, a type of Asian poetry, which she writes under the pen name of Tao-Li.
