
Scott McCloud

Born in Lexington, Massachusetts, Scott McCloud had wide-ranging interests as a child, including astronomy, radio, drama, and chess. At age 15, however, McCloud developed an interest that would lead to his future career. He began reading comics and within a year decided to become a comic book artist.
McCloud attended Syracuse University, where he pursued his goal of drawing comics. After graduating from college in 1982, he moved to New York City and started working in the production department of DC comics. A year later, he began producing Zot!, which became an award-winning comic book series. In the following years, McCloud published Destroy!, a parody of superhero comics, and wrote two books, Understanding Comics (1993) and Reinventing Comics (2000), which have both been praised by critics.
Today, McCloud lives in California with his wife and two daughters.
