Author Biographies

John McPhee
(b. 1931)

John McPhee was a television writer form 1955 to 1957, during the early years of that medium. After that experience he became an associate editor for Time magazine. However, he is best known as an essayist for The New Yorker, a weekly magazine famous for its excellent writing. McPhee has also written books on various subjects, including Alaska and the Pine Barrens of New Jersey.
