Author Biographies

Charlotte Pomerantz
(b. 1930)

Charlotte Pomerantz was born in Brooklyn, New York. She is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, which is located about 15 miles north of New York City. She has worked as a writer, salesperson, waitress, researcher, copy editor, and editor. As a writer, her books for children have been very well received. In fact, she won the Jane Addams' Children's Book Award in 1975 for The Princess and The Admiral. In 1984, she won a Christopher Award for Posy. Pomerantz's fascination with language, not just English, can be seen in two of her books: The Tomarindo Puppy and If I had a Paka.
