My-Van Tran
(b. 1947)
Dr. My-Van Tran is from Saigon, the capitol city of South Vietnam. Because of the Vietnam War, she left her native land and immigrated to Australia. She hasn't lost touch with her heritage, though. In fact, she has received a medal from the Australian government in recognition of her services to Australian Asian relations. She is an associate professor and coordinator in the School of International Studies at the University of South Australia. Her teaching interests encompass Asian Studies, History and Politics of Asia, in particular Southeast Asia, and East-West Encounter and Implications. She is also a member of the National Multicultural Advisory Council.
