Response Pads and Receiver Units
CPS response pads are infrared and can work in small and large settings with up to 2000 pads. The response pad itself operates on two triple A batteries, and the battery life with normal usage, will extend beyond a year. Our newest response pads transmit over 100 feet and can be dropped from twelve feet onto concrete and still operate.
The receiver unit operates on either a serial or USB port.
How many response pads can one CPS receiver unit support?
eInstruction recommends one CPS receiver unit for every 90- 100 students for optimal performance.
What is the maximum distance that a CPS receiver unit will be able to detect a response?
Straight line - over 25 meters (about 75 feet)
What is the appropriate angle for transmission of the response pads?
Both vertical & horizontal angles of approximately 45 degrees.
What is the appropriate angle for the reception of the CPS receiver unit?
Vertical angle of approximately 60 degrees
Horizontal angle of approximately 120 degrees
Can I export my student data for use electronically?
Yes, the data is exportable into HTML, RTF, PDF, Excel, XML, Access, and CSV formats.
Is CPS Networkable?
You can install CPS to multiple computers at one time. Please contact tech support for details on networking CPS at 800-338-5544.
General Use of CPS
Can I give a paper quiz or exam using CPS allowing students to progress at their own pace?
Using the 'Student Managed Assessment' mode, each student can work at their own pace. This mode is great for giving a quiz, test, or exam. The 'Teacher Managed Assessment' mode allows you to be in control of starting and stopping each question.
Can a student check or change an answer during a CPS session?
A student will see their pad number light up blue when they enter in their original answer, light up green if they check an answer, or light up yellow if they change an answer. If the student tries to answer a question out of the range of possible answers, their number will light up red.
I do not have time to enter questions into CPS before class, can I still use CPS?
- CPS has a feature called "Verbal Question. This feature allows you to ask questions on the fly! Use your text book, study guide etc…
- CPS lessons can also be used in conjunction with, or overlaid onto, other software, e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel, DVD movie, etc.
- A CPS Chalkboard is available allowing you to hand-write with stylus any question you wish to ask. The question will appear on your screen and you can save that question to CPS.
If I use the 'Verbal Question' feature, how will I know if the students answered the questions correctly?
- At the end of the 'Verbal Question' session, the CPS answer distribution will appear. You will select the correct answers here.
- You may leave questions as subjective simply by not entering in a correct answer for them.
Can I use CPS to conduct a survey or opinion poll?
Yes, set up your questions and but do not select a correct answer for any of them, making them subjective. When your students are finished answering the questions, you can see the results by generating the 'Opinion Survey' report. (You can also use the 'Verbal Question' feature to conduct surveys and opinion polls.)
