Corrections for Health: Skills for Wellness ©1997

As part of its Open Book Initiative, Pearson Education has established an Internet-based communication policy that alerts educators to any factual or typographical errors or areas of possible misunderstanding in its school programs. In accordance with this policy, Prentice Hall is alerting you to revisions made in Health: Skills for Wellness ©1997.

We organized the corrections by category:
  • Corrections of factual errors
  • Corrections of typographical or grammatical errors
  • Changes for clarification, where the original wording or art could be improved to support student understanding
Publishers typically reprint books several times over the life of a copyright. Corrections can be made in each printing. Thus, depending on which printing of Health: Skills for Wellness you have, these corrections may already appear in your textbook.

93 par. 4 "2. Use your local telephone book

Check the 'Self Help Guide' at the front of the white pages. A section entitled 'Crisis' lists hotline numbers available 24 hours a day for help with concerns such as suicide, alcohol abuse, child abuse, and rape. A section entitled 'Health' lists resources for help with AIDS, alcohol, pregnancy, gambling, and other problems.

Look in the yellow pages under 'Mental-Health Services' and 'Social and Human Services' for names of mental-health clinics, counseling centers, and other services. Also check under 'Psychotherapists' and 'Psychologists' for names of therapists and counseling centers."
"2. Use your local telephone book

Telephone books vary from town to town, but they all contain vital information for helping you manage a mental or social health problem.

In some directories, you may find a 'self help' or 'health' guide at the front of the white or yellow pages. Try looking under 'Teen Concerns.' In other directories, listings may be shown in the yellow pages under Community, Human, Counseling, or Mental Health Services. Others may be listed under Social Workers or Psychologists.

If you can't find help, try calling people who may keep 'help' numbers handy: 411, a library or church, or police and fire departments."
404 par. 2, line 6 "If you have light-colored skin or sun-sensitive skin, you will need to protect yourself from sunburn with a sunscreen lotion." "The lighter or more sun-sensitive your skin is, the higher the SPF protection you will need from your sunscreen lotion."
