Dr. V. Pauline Hodges

teacher photoDr. V. Pauline (Paula) Hodges has had a varied career in public education. She has been a language arts teacher in grades 5–8, a high school English and speech teacher, and a director of an alternative education program.

She was a professor at Colorado State University for 10 years before becoming the Coordinator of Language Arts K–12 for the Jefferson County, Colorado, school system, the largest in the state. She received the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Award for her work with at-risk high school students, as well as Leadership and Service Awards from Phi Delta Kappa.

Dr. Hodges has been the president of the Colorado Language Arts Society, the chair of the Assembly of Rural Teachers of English and of SLATE, both with the National Council of Teachers of English. She also served as the SLATE Newsletter Editor in 2000.
