Stephanie Swerdloff King

teacher photoStephanie Swerdloff King is a history teacher at Design and Architecture Senior High, a magnet school in the Design District of downtown Miami, Florida. She has taught for 32 years in a wide variety of educational settings, including prisons and residential treatment centers, public and private schools, and universities. She is currently teaching 11th grade American history, after teaching world history for over a decade.

Mrs. King has a B.A. in History from the University of Florida, an M.S. in Education from the University of Miami, and is currently completing a Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning at the University of Miami. In 1996, she was chosen as Mainstreaming Teacher of the Year for Hialeah Middle School. In 1999, she was the recipient of the Francis R. Walker Teacher of the Year 2000 for Miami-Dade County, was chosen as the 2000 Florida Teacher of the Year, and became the Christa McAuliffe Ambassador for Education for the 1999/2000 school year. She was also named the 2000 Alumnus of Distinction by the University of Miami.

Mrs. King has specialized in teaching history through the integration of academic disciplines and the arts.
