Mike Bruner

teacher photoMike Bruner has taught world history and United States history at Chanute High School, Chanute, Kansas, for 24 years. He earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees in history from Emporia State University and has done graduate work at several other universities. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Bruner has been active in various professional organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors with the Kansas Council of Social Studies and is state liaison for the National Council for History Education. He helped write the Kansas Curricular Standards for Civics-Government, Economics, Geography, and History. He also served as a reviewer for the State Assessment written to those standards. Mr. Bruner has presented at state and national conferences as well as consulted with several school districts on standards-based history instruction.
