Vamos al cine

As you have learned in this chapter, going to the movies is a very popular activity for people in Spanish-speaking countries. In this activity, we'll visit a Web site and find out what the critics are saying (in Spanish!) about various films.

  1. The Web site that you will visit is called Cinemaniacos. Your task in this activity will be to collect information on five different movies and to decide, with a group, which one you will see.

When you arrive at the Web site, you can click on Estrenos (to check foreign films) or Buenas Películas. Click on a title to see a movie review. Each page gives some general information about the movie at the top, followed by the critics' review. You only have to use the more general information to complete the chart in section B, but feel free to explore the actual review if you're interested.

  2. Fill in the chart below with the information that you have collected. You will need to provide the name of the film both in Spanish and English (if available), the country and the year of the film's release, the names of the film's main actors, and the movie rating (number of stars).

  3. Now form a group with three classmates and try to decide which film you would like to see. You'll probably have different opinions, so you'll have to negotiate and come to an agreement. You may follow the model below in your discussion:

    Modelo:
