Concept 7: Trait Analysis: Orange Eyes and White Skin 6

Results of the Cross: The F2 Generation
The total number of progeny is 527.  The observed F2 phenotypic ratio closely matches a 9:3:3:1 ratio.

Conclusion
The genes for the eye-color and skin-color traits assort independently. Orange eyes is recessive to black eyes, and white skin is recessive to green skin.

When F1 individuals are interbred, as in this cross, the F2 generation has a characteristic 9:3:3:1 ratio.

If the F1 is testcrossed (Oo Ww x oo ww), the phenotypic ratio in the progeny will be 1 black eyes, green skin : 1 black eyes, white skin : 1 orange eyes, green skin : 1 orange eyes, white skin.
