Concept 3: The Process of Mitosis

Mitosis is a continuous process that consists of various stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. The cell division that follows is called cytokinesis.

The video at left shows mitosis in a plant cell, as viewed under a light microscope.

In the screens that follow, we will view mitosis in a diploid (2N) animal cell with two pairs of chromosomes.
