Training Bones and Muscles
Chapter 29 - Skin, Skeletal, and Muscular Systems

Why bother to exercise? If you need a little motivation to do something a bit more strenuous than pressing a keyboard or a remote control, these sites may help you out. They provide the information and inspiration that will move you away from the screen and help you get your heart rate up.

Physical Activity and Health
This is the first Surgeon General's report on how exercise affects health. It's based on years of research and there's pages and pages of information, but you can get the gist of it by simply reading the conclusions in the section entitled At-A-Glance. To learn what the study reported about exercise and fitness in teens and young adults, go to the fact sheet entitled Adolescents and Young Adults.
Shape Up America!
This is a great Web site dedicated to providing information about how to manage your weight and become physically fit. To get started, check your Physical Activity IQ and take some time to browse around the site.
Fitness Index of Advocate Health Care
Read fitness articles or Ask a Trainer about fitness. You can submit questions of your own to exercise physiologist Teresa Taylor-Dusharm, or browse through the archive of questions that have already been asked and answered.
