Pollen Declares War!
Why is it called an allergy attack?

It is no coincidence that many people call an allergic response an attack. It would be easy to describe the human body's response to pollen like a science fiction battle. As the pollen enters the body, the immune system is alerted by chemical reactions that happen just after invasion. The fierce looking shape of the pollen grains and the chemicals of which they are made trigger several types of body defenses. The primary goals of these chemical defenses are to rid the body of the alien invader. In the case of pollen, the respiratory and lymphatic systems are well equipped to deal with these intruders. A whole series of physiological events begins that eventually rid the body of the pollen and restore homeostasis.
