Chapter 11: The History of Life

Did you ever wonder what things were like in your neighborhood ten, twenty, or even a few hundred million years ago? You'd probably be surprised. The area you now call home may have been at an entirely different part of Earth and it may have been much hotter or colder than it is today. One way to learn about the good old days is to study fossils, ancient life that has been turned to stone. Another way is to visit some of the online resources that describe our past.

For an overview of how both Earth and the life forms on it have changed over time, visit the following site:

From this page on the UC Museum of Paleontology site you can learn about any period or era in the earth's history. Just click to choose a time that interests you.
