In plants, active transport enables the roots to absorb nutrients from the soil. Plant nutrients are more concentrated inside the roots than in the surrounding soil. The different nutrients found inside the roots of a plant include ions of sodium, potassium, nitrogen (as nitrates), and phosphorus (as phosphates). From your knowledge of active transport, concentration gradients, and osmosis, answer the following questions.
