Nutritionists recommend that no more than 30 percent of your
energy each day should come from the fat you eat. What is an
easy way to find out if a food contains fat? You can perform
an easy test if you
Try This
- Choose five different foods to test.
- Using scissors, cut a brown paper bag into five 5-cm squares.
- Rub one of the food samples on a square of brown paper. Hold the paper up to the light. An oily spot on the paper indicates the presence of fats. Record your observations.
Analyze Your Results
- Which foods contain fats? Which foods did not contain fats?
- What can you conclude about the foods you tested?
- Did any of your results surprise you? Which ones?
