Recording Observations
Chapter 10: The Theory of Evolution

Darwin carefully recorded his observations in journals. Recording accurate observations is an important part of the scientific method. How can you ensure that you record accurate observations?

Think about the foods you eat over a five-day period. On the last day, record from memory the foods you ate each day in as much detail as possible. Repeat the process for another five days, but record the food you ate after each meal.

Analyze the Data

  1. Compare your records. How do they differ? Which record is more accurate?
  2. If you were to propose a hypothesis about your eating habits, what type of journal would help you form an accurate hypothesis? Why?
