2. Look at the introductory material and answer the following:

b. What is the topic of the section opener?

c. What ideas are listed under What You'll Learn?

 

3. How are the major parts of the lesson titled?

 

4. Examine Figure 2.2 on page 35. Describe one feature of the visual that is apparent to you without reading about the image.

 

5. Look at Figure 2.14 on page 43 and read the caption. Then answer the following:

a. What do these photographs have in common?


b. Think about exploding fireworks and the rusting of a car. How are these processes different?

6. Read the first paragraph on page 42. What does this tell you about the content of the section?

7. Skim Section 2.3. What words appear in boldface type?


8. Based on skimming the section, what do you expect to learn from your reading?


9. Now read Section 2.3. Was your prediction? Why or why not?

10. Preview sections 2.4 and 2.5. Write your predictions about each lesson. Then read each lesson and compare what you expected to read with what you did read.
