Step 3: Students Register as Users of PH SuccessNet
Print one Student Registration Form for each of the classes you created. Each Student Registration Form includes a Class Registration Code that is unique to that class.
Students will need User IDs and passwords. You have two options to make this happen. You can either:
Give each student a copy of the Student Registration Form for his or her class, or
Alternatively, you can pre-assign User IDs and Passwords for your students. If you choose this option, we recommend that you come up with a unique, memorable two-word combination to represent each of your classes, and then append a number to this combination for each student. Simply write the User IDs on the Student Registration Form, one for each student, and distribute them to your class. Please note that users IDs and Passwords should be 6 to 30 characters in length and should not include spaces or punctuation. User IDs and Passwords are case sensitive.
If you choose to have your student create their own User IDs and Passwords, these are the steps you need to take:
Make one photocopy of the Student Registration Form for each student in your class.
Distribute copies to students and ask them to complete the Student Name and User ID portions of the handout. Each student needs to pick a unique User ID.
Bring each of your classes to the computer lab (or other location at which you will be using the interactive textbook).
Walk students through the registration process, following the steps for Student Registration:
Under new to online textbooks? section, select Student and then click the Register button.
They should follow the instructions on-screen to register, recording their User ID on the Student Registration Form exactly as they typed it.
At the end of the registration process, they should click "Log In" to return to the login page.
Students should enter their User ID and Password in the boxes, and then click "Log In," which will take them to the Student Center and their interactive textbook.
Collect the Student Registration handouts from students at the end of the process so that you have a record of the User ID that each student has selected.
